Bowen Park Bird Walk
What a lovely birdwalk in Nanaimo this morning -- Bowen Park, a 70 hectare city park, was spectacular.
In warm temperatures raised by bright sun, we strolled through a conifer forest with towering cedars, spruce and hemlocks, as well as Canada's national tree: the Big Leaf Maple, past a Blue Camas meadow and Rhododendron garden, and along the Millstone River restored for Salmon and outfitted with a ladder.
Among the thirty or so species, we saw several Robins harassing a Barred Owl and a California Quail trying to lead us away from his nest.
